The origin of "Simola" specialties

Crocodile (Origin):

Our crocodile meat comes exclusively from southern Africa. The edible fillet comes from the tail and is very low in fat. The cholesterol content is relatively low, while the protein content is high. In terms of taste, crocodile is similar to fish, lobster, and chicken. Give it a try as an appetizer or main course.

Kingklip Fish (Origin):

Kingklip is a species of fish from the grouper family. This bottom-dwelling fish lives along the coasts of South Africa and Namibia, in rocky areas of the continental shelf and slope at depths of 50 to 500 meters. Its flesh is white, firm, low in bones, and has a distinctive flavor.

Ostrich (Origin):

From the Karoo region in Oudtshoorn, South Africa. It is hard to imagine that ostrich meat was considered inferior until the 1990s. It is now known to be low in cholesterol, fat, and calories, making it highly digestible.

Zebra (Origin):

In South Africa, hunting is allowed only for stable populations of plains zebras. However, hunters must adhere to certain quotas to avoid endangering the population. The African plains zebra has a particularly flavorful taste and, contrary to many expectations, bears no resemblance to horse meat. As a barely domesticated, wild animal, zebra has exceptionally lean meat, with a fat content of only about 1.5%. These factors are making zebra meat increasingly popular in Germany.

Sirloin Angus Roast Beef (Origin):

The Angus Sirloin Steak Rio-Platensa comes from Argentina and has unique meat quality. It is characterized by fine marbling of fat, juiciness, and tenderness.

Corn-fed Chicken Breast (Origin):

The corn-fed chicken breast comes from France. The yellow color of the meat comes from the chickens being fed with corn. Its flavor is more intense and aromatic due to the special feeding.

Morgenster Olive Oil (Origin):

The family-run Morgenster estate is a small gem in Somerset West, known for its authentic and complex wines as well as its excellent olive oils. In the 1990s, Morgenster played a pioneering role by introducing the cultivation of olives alongside wine, paving the way for olive oil culture in South Africa. The olive oils can be tasted in the tasting room, along with the outstanding wines. The flagship product of the estate is the Morgenster Estate Reserve.

Morgenster olive oil has a dark yellow to greenish color. It is cold-pressed, contains no additives, and is neither filtered nor refined. It has an intensely fruity taste and smells like freshly cut grass. It has a long-lasting flavor with a subtle bitter and peppery finish. We have been using this oil for years, and it is simply fantastic. It regularly receives awards and is generally considered one of the best olive oils in the world.

Please note that pets are not allowed in our restaurant.
